NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research
Mission
NIOZ is the national oceanografic institute of the Netherlands. Its mission includes three tasks:
- groundbreaking fundamental research and socially inspired research
- science education in intermediate and higher vocational education and in universities
- managing research facilities such as ships, labs and research equipment
Year of foundation
In 1876 the Zoölogisch Station was founded, and in 1960, the name was changed into Nederlands Instituut voor Onderzoek der Zee (NIOZ). Currently, it's called: NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research.
