Subsidy for sustainability of Biomass Import

The Dutch ministries of Economic Affairs and of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality made 7,5 million euro’s available for innovative projects on sustainable import of biomass to the Netherlands.

The Sustainable Biomass Import programme aims to stimulate, support and facilitate the promotion of sustainability of the production, processing and import of biomass produced abroad and used in the Netherlands.


The execution must contribute to:

  1. Promote the sustainability of biomass production based on the Testing framework for Sustainable Biomass.
  2. Develop and apply certification systems for imported biomass.
  3. Counteract undesired indirect effects of biomass production. 

About 20 projects from entrepreneurs, NGO’s and/or knowledge institutes will be realised.

Deadline for proposals is 15 October 2009.
