Call for proposals CoCooN
3 August 2009
WOTRO Science for Global Development has recently launched the first call of the research programme Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources in Developing Countries (CoCooN) - integrated projects. The deadline for submitting preliminary proposals is 3 November 2009, 12:00 hrs CET.
CoCooN is a knowledge, research and innovation programme. Its aim is to contribute to sustainable development, poverty reduction and the realisation of the Millennium Development Goals (positive change). The objective is to contribute to evidence based policy development and practice in the field of conflict and cooperation over natural resources, and to adequately manage, resolve and learn from conflicts over natural resources.
The thematic focus will be based on demands and priorities expressed by the key stakeholders and has to be in line with (one or more of) the three thematic priorities:
1. Conflicts, land rights and land-use change;
2. Water resources, conflict and cooperation;
3. Resource exploitation, global trade and conflict.
To implement this programme Integrated Projects (IPs) will be financed. Each IP will need to demonstrate integration and synergy of the above three perspectives: a clear development perspective, high-quality knowledge and research, and capacity building. The budget for a maximum period of five years may not exceed 620,000 euro, whereas the detailed budget for the first two years may not exceed 400,000 euro.
Please note that the programme is open for all nationalities. The only condition is that the geographical focus of the IP is rooted in - but not necessarily limited to - one or more partner countries of Dutch bilateral development cooperation and thus at least one partner in a consortium should be based in one of these countries.
