Health Policy and Health Systems Research
This month WOTRO Science for Global Development will launch the first call of the new research programme Global Health Policy and Health Systems (GHPHS). Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources in Developing Countries
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands have joined forces to launch a new research programme: the Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources programme (CoCooN). The programme is part of the NWO-theme Conflict and Security. The first call is scheduled for autumn 2009. Read more...

May 14: Meeting Health Policy and Health Systems Research
This Thursday a meeting will be held in the Hague to inform researchers, consultants, NGO's, and interested others about the upcoming research programme Health Policy and Health Systems Research. An important topic will be the first call for proposals within this research programme. The meeting will offer presentations on the background and aims of the research programme and the first call for proposals, as well as a networking opportunity to find the right partner to add to your team. Pre-announcement: up coming matchmaking workshops CoCooN
The Directorate General of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) will organise matchmaking workshops in The Netherlands, Africa, Asia and South America, around the 2009 summer period. June 8: Information meeting CoCooN
On June 8, a meeting will be held in the Netherlands to inform researchers, NGO's and interested others about the research programme CoCooN Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources in Developing Countries. WOTRO houses secretariat SANPAD

Young researchers investigate the world
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded Rubicon grants to 27 young and promising researchers. Dutch researchers who have recently gained a doctorate can use the grant to gain research experience abroad. Foreign researchers may undertake research in the Netherlands. Read more...


Highlight of Research Results

Peruvian stalagmites a new basis for 'Inconvenient truth'?
Will the Netherlands that is dominated by water succumb to the 'Inconvenient Truth' predicted by Al Gore? Dutch researcher Martin van Breukelen analysed stalagmites from the South American Amazon tributaries in Peru. He used stalagmites to reconstruct climate changes in the past. Read more...

China and the Netherlands join forces for research into water management
During a recent working visit to China, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Royal Netherlands Academy for Arts & Sciences (KNAW) reached agreement with their Chinese counterparts regarding the theme for the new Joint Scientific Thematic Research Programme (JSTP). For the first round, the partners have selected the theme of 'Integrated water management in relation to climate change and sea level rise'. Read more...

Just published: Knowledge on the Move

This publication reflects the outcome of a vibrant conference organised by WOTRO, the ISS and Nuffic. Three crosscutting issues formed the basis for discussion: building equal research partnerships, shaping capacity development in the field of research, and embedding research in society to ensure application and valorization of the research outcomes.
