ESF EUROCORES
Synthetic Biology: Engineering Complex Biological Systems (EuroSYNBIO)
| Secretariat | : | ALW |
| Participants | : | NGI |
| Apply | : | No, a new round is (still) uncertain |
EuroSYNBIO is a EuroCORES research programme in the field of synthetic biology. Within this discipline, bottom-up or top-down approaches are used to increase our understanding of how living organisms function and how the arsenal of functions can be extended/regulated.
Within European Coordinated Research (EuroCORES) projects, an application is jointly submitted to the ESF by groups from different countries. Prior to awarding subsidies, ESF examines whether the national research funding bodies of the countries from which the highest classed projects originate have sufficient budget available to award grants to all groups, and in so doing to make the project possible.
When can be applied
Closing date for submitting applications was 6 March 2009, 12:00 hrs.
Extra Information
Applications may be submitted online at the ESF. For information see http://www.esf.org/activities/eurocores/programmes/eurosynbio.html
Criteria
Criteria for applications are laid down by ESF. See the Call for Outline Proposals on http://www.esf.org/activities/eurocores/programmes/eurosynbio.html.
In addition to these criteria, applications from Dutch researchers must satisfy the guidelines of the Open programme Open programme of ALW.
For EuroCORES projects a maximum total budget of € 230,000 per applicant is available.
The probability of funding being awarded is not a percentage of the total number of proposals submitted. Rather the probability of funding is mainly limited by the budget reserved in your country and in the countries where your partners are seeking funding.
Procedure
Procedure for assessing applications is laid down by ESF. See the Call for Outline Proposals on http://www.esf.org/activities/eurocores/programmes/eurosynbio.html
Budget
For EuroSYNBIO, NWO has set aside a budget that will make it possible to fund 1 to 2 work packages (or PIs).
Financiers
The Dutch contribution to this transnational programme is the NWO Division for Earth and Life Sciences.
