- Relevance to policy and society
See the 'Call for proposals' for further details.
Procedure
The proposals will be reviewed by the evaluation committee. As the applications are for short projects with relatively small budgets, Article 2.10 of the NWO General Subsidy Regulations (under which the use of external referees is relinquished) applies. The evaluation committee shall review the proposals against the criteria stated in Chapter 4.2. The evaluation committee shall reach a provisional assessment about the quality of the proposals. This will be sent to the applicants who shall be given the opportunity comment on this (rebuttal). The evaluation committee shall discuss whether the rebuttals from the applicants give reason to modify the provisional assessment. They shall then reach a final assessment. They will issue a written ranking advice to the steering group. The steering group will broadly test the assessment, confirm it and (based on the recommendation of the evaluation committee) it shall issue the final ranking order. Policy considerations can also play a role in this prioritisation process. This ranking order shall be used to determine which proposals receive funding.
Proposals for short research projects that receive funding should start within three months of the funding being awarded.
Committees
A steering group is responsible for the coordination and content of the Odyssee programme. The steering group will appoint a national evaluation committee to assess the grant applications.
The membership of the steering group and the evaluation committee will be published on the website.
