9 October 2008: Annual Day of the Netherlands Platform for Global Health Policy and Health Systems Research

The Netherlands Platform for Global Health Policy and Health Systems Research kindly invites you to participate at its first Annual Day, to be held on October 9th 2008 at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam. The theme of the Annual Day 2008 day will be: Access to quality reproductive health services in fragile states; evidence, experience and the policy agenda. background information

The Platform wishes to engage the interested scientific, health and development community for an afternoon of presentations and discussions. The Platform intends to use the outcomes of this day for the advisory report it is currently preparing about the relationships of health system interventions and MDG 5 achievement in fragile states. This report will be presented to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later this Autumn.

The objectives of the Annual Day 2008 are:

  • To learn and discuss about the combined evidence on maternal mortality and reproductive health, health systems and basic health services, and effectiveness of health interventions in fragile states;
  • To learn and discuss about innovative strategies, programs and best practices;
  • To explore and discuss the policy implications of the evidence and experience;
  • To inform participants of the aim and activities of the Platform.
