The use of plant P450s in microbial hosts for the production of fine-chemicals

Nootkatone is a rare but important compound, with the typical grapefruit flavour. A system that produces natural nootkatone is important for the market. Isobionics is aiming to engineer a bacterium that can produce this compound. An enzyme from chicory and/or grapefruit is essential to this production and this project aims to identify this enzyme and makes it suitable for the Isobionics bacterial production system.
