Better Analyses Based on Endangered Languages (EuroBABEL)

Researchers at universities and institutes in those countries where the national granting bodies participate in BABEL can submit a grant application. Project applications should be a partnership between research teams from at least three participating countries. NWO applicants should hold a doctorate, have several years of research experience and be employed at a Dutch university or a research institute approved by KNAW and/or NWO.
The main purpose of the theme is to promote empirical research on underdescribed endangered languages, both spoken and signed, that aims at changing and refining our ideas about linguistic structure in general and about language in relation to cognition, social and cultural organization and related issues in a trans-/multidisciplinary perspective.
NWO/Humanities will participate in BABEL with a maximum of 3 individual projects of approximately € 200,000.
Who can apply
Onderzoekers aan universiteiten en instellingen in die landen waar de nationale subsidieorganisaties aan BABEL deelnemen kunnen subsidie aanvragen. Projectaanvragen dienen een samenwerking te zijn tussen onderzoeksteams uit minstens drie deelnemende landen. NWO aanvragers dienen gepromoveerd te zijn, enige jaren onderzoekservaring hebben en werken aan een Nederlandse universiteit of door de KNAW en/of NWO goedgekeurd onderzoeksinstituut.
