CoCooN: A knowledge, research and innovation programme on Conflict and Cooperation over Natural Resources in Developing Countries.
CoCooN is a new international programme funded by the Directorate General of Development Cooperation (DGIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). The programme is part of the NWO Conflict & Security theme.

Seven CoCooN Integrated Projects awarded
The first call of the CoCooN programme resulted in the awarding of seven Integrated Projects from the 45 proposals submitted. The awarded projects will start with a working programme of two year’s. After two years a mid-term evaluation will follow. Based on this evaluation successful projects may apply for extension of their activities through a second call (up to one million Euro per project) for a maximum duration of five years in total. 16 Fast Track research projects on conflict awarded
NWO awarded 16 from the 47 proposals submitted for Fast Track research projects into emerging, active, escalating or de-escalating conflicts, under the theme Conflict and Security. In view of the high quality of the proposals submitted, the committee decided to award more proposals than originally foreseen: 3 replacement subsidies and 13 postdoc positions.
