Strategic Support activity since 2007- Global Health & Health Systems

At the request of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health, WOTRO hosts the secretariat of the Platform Global Health Policy and Health Systems Research. The role of the secretariat is to provide support to the Platform by taking responsibility for the technical and organisational preparation of two workshops and one conference per year. The secretariat will also take care of communication.

The Platform Global Health Policy and Health Systems Research will strengthen the interaction between health development policy, research and practice in the Netherlands with the aim to strengthen synergy between the research policy and activities of the Dutch government and the research community. It will also enhance the use of research results by policy makers. For this, the Platform will organise stakeholders meetings between NGOs, researchers, governments and funders. The Platform will translate and disseminate research results into policy papers and give advice regarding strengthening of the Dutch infrastructure on Health Systems Research. The Platform will also assist in formulating the outlines of research programmes on global health and health systems research. The Platform’s focus will be on the health Millennium Development Goals and it will advocate Dutch and international research on health systems for developing countries, hereby adding to the WOTRO strategy of encouraging synergy in the field of Global Health & Health Systems Research.
