Organisation

The total budget of the MVI programme is contributed by the NWO divisions for Humanities, Social Sciences, WOTRO Science for Global Development, the Technology Foundation STW, and the Netherlands organisation for health research and development. Next to these NWO divisions, the budget is contributed by the following six ministries: the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and the Dutch Ministry of Defence.

The MVI thematic programme will fall under the responsibility of a steering committee and a programme committee. The overall coordination lies with the steering committee, while the programme committee is responsible for providing assistance with regard to the programme as such.The steering committee appoints the members of the Advisory Board. This Advisory Board will advise the steering committee on matters concerning the selection of the preliminary applications and the assessment of the full applications. The societal relevance of the full applications will be assessed by the Societal Panel. That panel will be set up by the steering committee, and will advise the Advisory Board.

Societal panel

The Societal Panel will assess the societal relevance of the applications. It has been set up by the steering committee, and will advise the Advisory Board. The members of the Societal Panel for the subsidy rounds 2009 and 2010 were:
