The first Sustainable Hydrogen Educational Workshop was held on April 25-27, 2005 in conference resort Golden Tulip De Beyaerd in Hulshorst. The ACTS Sustainable Hydrogen programme has been set op to address in an integrated way all important scientific, technological and societal/non-technological issues that must be solved before a `Hydrogen Economy`can become reality. The topics of the programme therefore span a very broad area.

The young researchers working in this programme therefore have very different backgrounds; the same is (at least partly) true for their project leaders. To generate a fruitful interaction between all the researchers involved in this programme it is thus necessary to create a common denominator. In this workshop tutorial lectures were being given at a level adapted to a broad audience. Topics that were discussed are for instance: catalysis: first principle calculations, borohydrides, basic photoelectrolysis, hydrogen storage in batteries and patenting inventions.
