Inventing Europe: Technology and the Making of Europe, 1850 to the Present

EUROCORES stands for ‘ESF European Collaborative Research Scheme´, a grant scheme managed by the European Science Foundation (ESF). The ESF has 78 members organisations from 30 different countries: academies, research organisations and research funding agencies, including NWO.

Inventing Europe aims at establishing robust transnational research teams that develop novel perspectives on the mutual shaping of transnational technology developments and the process of European integration. It looks at the processes and perceptions of technological change as an important arena for constructing Europe on the material, institutional, and discursive levels.

Wie kan aanvragen

ESF: Researchers based in universities and research institutions in those countries whose national research funding agencies are signatories to the scheme, are eligible to apply for grants. Project applications must involve collaboration amongst research teams in a minimum of three European countries.

NWO: Senior researchers at Dutch institutions of higher education and/or researchers at institutes recognised by NWO.

Wat kan aangevraagd worden

The funding is limited to either a PhD or a Postdoc research postition and material costs.
Personnel costs will be granted in accordance with the VSNU contract regarding research postitions. Funding is limited to a maximum of K€250.

PhD
You can apply for personnel costs for a PhD student with a maximum of four years 1fte, 5 years 0,8 fte is also possible if applied for in the application.

Postdoc
You can apply for personnel costs for a Postdoc position with a maximum of three years 1fte, more years with less fte is also possible if applied for in the application.

Material costs
You may apply for material costs like, for example, data collection, workshops and travel costs.

Full Proposals will be invited by 1 July 2006, with a deadline of 13 September.

Budget

The NWO Humanties Council (GW) will be funding a maximum of four Dutch Individual Projects from disciplines served by the council, with a maximum of K€250 per project.
