In the 2005 subsidy round 70 preliminary proposals were submitted; 38 applicants responded to the invitation to elaborate a full proposal. Two separate advisory committees evaluated the preliminary and full proposals: one for the Humanities and Social Sciences and one for the Natural and Medical Sciences. Twenty individual projects were awarded: ten in the Humanities and Social Sciences and ten in the Natural and Medical Sciences.
