Two main lines

In the new strategic period WOTRO will finance research along two main lines, focusing on research with relevance for problems in developing countries in a broad sense
The WOTRO Board has taken to heart the main issues put
forward in consultations of the WOTRO constituency: not to focus exclusively on
themes and thus to guarantee opportunities for ‘innovative’ research, and not
to adhere to the Millennium Development Goals-agenda (MDG) too strictly.
In the new strategic period the two main research lines are:
- Research on topics within four overarching themes
- ‘Free’ research, to generate innovative ideas and new insights of relevance
for (policies on) problems in developing countries in a broad
sense.
