Project objectives
- To develop a Malawian owned, internationally recognised, Research Support Centre, which will: facilitate the ability of local researchers to design and conduct clinical research; introduce ICH-GCP quality research standards; contribute to capacity building through a comprehensive training programme; advance it’s capability to develop a significant research agenda and successfully compete for international research grants and to translate research findings into local health policy.
- To establish a platform in the College of Medicine for different (inter)national research groups to work in a complementary way on the control of malaria, HIV and TB.
- To attract high-quality Malawian researchers by creating a stimulating
research environment and providing re-entry grants (i.e. to reverse the
brain-drain).
