| Line of action | : | Consolidating strengths |
| Secretariat | : | NCF |
| Apply | : | No, the subsidy is closed for applications |
The NCF Grants programme has a twofold objective:
- the parallelisation of existing scientific application software, or the (further) adapting of the programme code of scientific applications to the use on supercomputers, clusters and other parallel systems;
- In general, improvement of application software in order to enhance efficiency in using NCF facilities in the science grid, so far as general usage is concerned;
- the creation of a professional pool of qualified personnel able to conduct parallelisation efficiently.
Who can apply
The programme is open for applications from academic research groups, research
schools, NWO and KNAW institutes and the HPC Centres of Groningen and Delft
universities and SARA.
What can be applied for
Applications can be made for financial means to cover the direct staff costs of conducting the parallelisation.
Extra Information
An important requirement was that the parallelisation concerned frequently used computing-intensive software.
Criteria
The selection will take place according to both formal and intrinsic criteria.
Procedure
Applications can be submitted through standard forms via NWO’s Iris system. They will be dealt with according to the nature and size of the application.
The final decision will be made by the Committee for Scientific Use of Supercomputers (WGS), which is authorised to do this by the Board of the National Computing Facilities Foundation. The Committee for Scientific Use of Supercomputers discusses applications about 8 times a year. Grants are valid during one year from the starting date mentioned in the granting letter.
Committees
Committee for Scientific Use of Supercomputers (WGS)
Budget
The annual budget for this subsidy form is 300,000 euro.
Financiers
