Objective

On 1 April 1997 the NWO-programme Training, the Labour Market and Economic Development (SCHOLAR) was initiated. It has now become a relatively considerable research centre.
The programme’s object is to increase our knowledge about training and the labour market. Much attention is also given to the transmission of knowledge and insights gained from the research, primarily by presenting the outcomes to the scientific community. Of secondary importance are publications in a large number of renowned international A and B-level journals (such as American Economic Review, Economic Journal etc.).
The stimulation programme has supported 6 postdoctoral and 6 PhD projects. SCHOLAR also participates in three research projects which are part of the EU’s Targetted Socio-Economic Research programme. A total of 20 researchers are actively involved in this programme.
