The programme is build around three clusters of scientific interest: user aspects, aspects of data and databases, and aspects of knowledge refinement and transmission. These clusters will be further developed in the period 2000-2008 in three public application fields:
- Education and Culture
- Police and the Law
- Health Care.
Researchers at Dutch universities, NWO and Royal Netherlands Academy institutes were eligible to apply. The application was submitted by one head applicant on behalf of a team consisting of researchers from one or more research institutions. The research team had to consist of researchers from information science and the cognitive sciences and possibly their applied subfields.
What can be applied for
The programme is build around three clusters of scientific interest: user aspects, aspects of data and databases, and aspects of knowledge refinement and transmission. ToKeN had two very successful subsidy rounds in 2001, of which one was for the application fields Education and Culture and Police and the Law and one for Health Care. A total number of 30 trainee researcher and 11 postdoc positions were created, most of which are now filled.
