Objective
The aim of the priority programme Materials Research is to promote research in
three subfields of materials science: micromechanics and mesoscopic materials
science, coatings and composites, functional materials. Materials Research
especially focuses on the fundamental aspects that are involved in the
practical applications of materials. In Chemical Sciences the research
concentrates on solid substances and polymeres. PPM has a subprogramme in the
field of Computational Materials Science (CMS) in which chemical science and
businesses heavily participate. The programme has a budget of around 30 million
euro and is sponsored by NWO Central, NWO Division for Chemical Sciences, the
Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM), the Technology Foundation
STW and the Ministries of Education and Economic Affairs. At this moment no new
applications can be submitted.
