Biomolecular Informatics

Line of action : Consolidating strengths
Part of NWO Theme : Fundamentals of Life Processes
Secretariat : CW
Participants : ALW, EW, ZonMw
Apply : No, the subsidy is closed for applications

Objective

This programme started as a cooperation between the NWO Divisions ALW, CW, EW and MW. Lately, the Netherlands Genomics Initiative is the director of this programme.

The aim of the BioMolecular Informatics Programme (BMI) is to promote biomolecular information science in the Netherlands as part of Modern Life Science research including genomics, by

  • promoting the formation of specialised BMI research teams (central point/centres of expertise) and
  • integrating BMI expertise into biomolecular research groups

BioMolecular Informatics is part of the Horizon programme of the Netherlands Genomics Initiative (NROG).

Application

There will be no second application round. The first call for proposals for the first part of the Horizon programme, the Breakthrough Projects, was in the middle of March 2003. The 3rd round will close on 13 December 2004. These are short-term innovative projects.
