What is our position?
ALW facilitates, funds and coordinates excellent and innovative Dutch research in the area of the earth and life sciences. The knowledge emerging from this must be made available to society and is therefore publicly accessible. We believe that it is vitally important to award funds on the basis of quality, impartiality, objectivity and diligence. In doing this ALW contributes to the overarching mission of NWO: stimulating scientific talent, conveying the importance of top research to society and enabling the results of this research to benefit society.
Lines of action
The ALW policy is expressed in the following lines of action:
- Open competition: for the top research ideas;
- Talent: for the best people in various phases of their career;
- Investments: for top infrastructure that supports top research;
- Thematic and programmatic collaboration: for synergy and intrinsic choices with scientific and social partners.
