Joint MFS II Evaluations of development interventions

The programme provides an independent and external evaluation of the effective use of MFS II funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This funding is for development interventions aimed at strengthening civil society in the South as a basis for structural poverty reduction.

This unique evaluation consised of ten research studies incorporating the outcome of the programmes of 64 Dutch development cooperation organisations. The evaluation was held as part of the Dutch funding system for development cooperation (Co-financing II: MFS-II). NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development safeguarded the scientific quality of the research for this evaluation. On 2 September 2015 the final reports were presented to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Publication on 'Advocacy on Development'

Monitoring and evaluation of advocacy for development is an emerging field. Many CSOs, donors and evaluators are now involved with advocacy. Questions of how to understand and assess programmes are urgent. An e-book was published on the 'International Lobbying and Advocacy' project. This e-book seeks to contribute to practical capacity on this front on the basis of lessons learned during the largest evaluation of advocacy for development in history, and is freely available on ISUU.
