Objective
This form of grant is targeted at researchers who have completed their doctorates and already spent some years conducting post-doctoral research, thereby demonstrating the ability to generate new ideas and bring them independently to fruition. They will be given the opportunity to develop their own innovative lines of research and themselves to appoint one or more researchers to assist them in the task.
Application
Who can apply
Researchers who have completed their doctorates with a maximum of 8 years (calculated from the date on which the doctorate was formally awarded to the deadline for the relevant round of Vidi grant applications).
From 1 August 2011, the extension clause for researchers with an clinical specialization is expanded.
Researchers from abroad may apply
What can be applied for
The maximum amount of grant will be € 800,000 for a period of five years.
When can be applied
- Closing date for submitting applications is 2 October 2012.

Procedure
Applications can only be submitted electronically via NWO's Iris system. The forms can be downloaded two months before the deadline from the website and be submitted electronically.
More information about the procedure can be found in the brochure 2012 and the instructions on the website.
Applications for the Division for Medical Sciences must be submitted through ZonMw's ProjectNet. These applications are not to be submitted through Iris.
Committees
A commission will be formed by each Division area and by each form of grant.

Awarding of 150 million euro for the Veni, Vidi and Vici grants on a yearly basis.
